Spiritual Insight from a 3 Year old.

Kate and I were working in the kitchen the other day. Not a surprise for anyone that knows Katherine. She is my little shadow and always comes running when she hears me in the kitchen. Anyway, not the point, I started reveiwing some of the Biblical concepts that we are focusing on with her and the followng conversation followed.

Kate loves being “mommy” to any baby that is around.

Me – So, Katherine who died on the cross for you?
Kate – Jesus
Me – Yes that’s right. And where is Jesus now?
Kate – Heaven
Me – Good job. He rose after 3 days and is now in Heaven with God.
Kate – When will I get to see God. I want to know what He looks like.
Me – Well, when it is our time to die God will call us to Heaven with Him if we have placed our faith in His salvation.
Kate – Can people hear God when He calls them home? Have you or Daddy ever heard God?
Me – I’m not sure if you can actually hear His voice but you will know when it is time.
Kate – Well, I want to see God. I want to die so I can see God for a little bit. But I want Grandma to go too. Could you take me to Grandma’s house so I can die with her and we can both see Jesus for a little bit?
Me – Well, maybe sometime you can see God but once you go to Heaven you can’t come back. So let’s wait a little while okay?
Kate – Okay, but I only want to die with Grandma. She has to go with me.

And I kept wondering if my mother would take it as a compliment or not  that Kate wanted to die with her. We have some work to do on her understanding but she sure has some pretty crazy thoughts for a three year old. Her understanding and depth of thought leaves me shaking my head many times.

Be blessed today my friends!! And remember, faith like a child is a blessing. What are some of the blessings in your life that you have missed lately? Take a moment to remember them.

  1. You do a great job training your children. There are so many who don’t get the leading and gentle explaining they deserve when they are young. Keep up the good work!
