“W”elcome to my Home

I know that most of you will never enter into my home IRL (in real life) but I wanted to open up my home to you, my friends here at my online home, for a visit today. The iced tea is poured and cookies are baked. So pull up a chair and chat with me awhile. Welcome to my home…….

I really am just a large family mom, with this large family blog. But the last six months in my life have been a whirlwind. While adding babies to the house isn’t new to us by now it is still an adjustment. The midnight feedings, the constant nursing during the day, and a tired momma make the work pile up. I am finally getting my feet back under me and catching up around here. You know how it is. A house doesn’t clean itself. And a mother’s work is never done.

If you truly want to learn all about the workings of my home you should flip through my Household Notebook. It contains chore schedules, shopping lists, medical instructions, and our daily routine. There is a section with my blogging ideas, and with newspaper clippings, hospital bracelets, and cards that are special to me. Almost anyone could run my home as long as they had this notebook. It is the “brains” behind my home.

If you spend much time at all with me you will soon learn that I can often be found in the kitchen. I have so many favorite homemade recipes that I can’t seem to just pick one. Whether I am baking homemade bread, making homemade snacks, or even mixing up some homemade laundry soap, I spend lots and lots of time in my kitchen. Cooking is a huge part of my life. I enjoy it and with such a large family there is plenty to be done.

All around my house you will see evidence of our homeschooling without textbooks philosophy. There are posters hanging, manipulatives all around and lots of creating going on each day. The library box is always brimming with books about our latest topics of study. Homeschooling is a huge part of my life as it takes a ton of time.

With life so busy and eight people in what many would consider a “smaller” home (1400 sq ft) life kind of spills out of everywhere but this is home and it works for us. We have almost an acre yard here on our dead end street. Our yard offers plenty of space for the children’s playhouse, tire swing, and lots of digging. My garden grows each year and is something that I love to do. Right now my hands are itching to get into the soil. I just love watching things grow and produce.

I have loved having you in my home today. Thank you for visiting. I hope that you have enjoyed our time together and will continue to visit my online home where I share all about large family homeschooling. Life changes just as fast as I can blink right now as children grow and learn and seasons come and go. Love you dear friends, have a great week.
