Homemade ABC Learning Game

Pin Me!!

You know that bag of plastic Easter eggs that are probably hiding in the back of a closet somewhere? They are left over from last Easter and by next Easter you might not even remember where they are. Well, today, I have a great idea on how you can use those “leftovers” to create a homemade ABC learning game for your preschooler.

You will need 26 plastic eggs (obviously right!) of any size, color, or design. And either a permanent marker or a label maker. I used a label maker and I love the way it turned out although I wish I could have printed the letters a little bigger. But they work!

Mix and Match the colors to make the game a little more challenging.

Take all of the eggs apart and make a pile of each end. My eggs had two different sized ends so make sure that when you are making two piles make sure that you keep the ends separate if your eggs aren’t interchangeable.

Take 26 halves and put all of the capital letters on them. Then repeat with the other 26 halves for the lower case letters. I tried to mix and match the colors so that the child couldn’t just match colors.

Katherine has really loved this game and I have loved watching her confidence and speed increase as she practices. This is also an independent game so she can sit quietly and work on it while I am helping the older kids. It is a win-win situation.
