A Journey Through Learning – A Review Crew Review

A Journey Through Learning is a company that I am very familiar with. All of my experiences have been positive and this time was no exception. The items that I reviewed this time were just as high quality and easy to use as any of the other ones that I have used in the past.

Over the past few weeks we have been knee deep in armor, coats of arms, and swords. This Knights and Castles lapbook download ($13.00) has proven to be a true delight for both my son and my daughters. One of my favorite things about these products is that they can be stand alone studies.

The first folder of our lapbook

There is material given to read aloud as the lessons and then the parts of the lapbook to write on, cut, and paste into a three folder lapbook. And while this study is for children in grades 2-7, Josiah, my 1st grader, loved this and was involved in the whole process. He retained the information and helped to put the lapbook together too! I have found that with a little extra “tweaking” the lapbooks from A Journey Through Learning can easily encompass a wide range of ages.

I love to use these unit studies coupled with library books, fun games, recipes from the time period, and arts and crafts too. Using the ideas of this lapbook in several subject areas helps the children to really retain the information presented in the daily lessons.

This is the first lapbook that I have used for my preschoolers. The Letters, Numbers, and Shapes download unit ($13.00) has proven to be loads of fun for Katherine and I to do together. After having seen her older siblings doing lapbooks for the past couple of years she was so excited when we started to make her own.

She got to trace number words, color shapes and even to cut out the parts of her lapbook. Some of the cutting did prove challenging for her but we just worked side by side each doing part of it and it was such a good time to chat with my preschooler.

A Journey Through Learning offers lots of downloadable and CD products. They have history, science, and even Bible based lapbooks and notebooking kits. You can also see my review of their Amphibians lapbook, and their Pioneer Days lapbook in these previous posts. We have loved all of them. They are thorough and easy to complete. The directions that are provided in the units are easy to understand and remove all of the guess work out of this type of schooling. There are pictures to follow that show the placement for each item in the lapbook kit and there is plenty of room for changing it to fit your needs. I have always found activities that are suitable for different ages. This makes it a great choice for a family with multiple ages in school. These kits can provide the complete unit or just the framework for the mother that wants to dive completely into a unit study. I hope that you will give A Journey Through Learning a try for your next lapbooking or notebooking unit study. I am sure you won’t be disappointed.
