Growing Deeper Roots – Prayer

Today we are going to be talking about Growing Deeper Roots through prayer. Growing in my prayer life has been a huge part of my life lately. And I can’t wait to share this topic with you.

Just like we start to breathe the moment we are born due to the pressure in the atmosphere, we should start to pray the moment we place our faith in Christ due to the pressure/prescence of Him in our life. As natural as breathing is for us, so should prayer be. It should be a part of who we are.

Now, I am not talking only about the type of prayer that involves bended knees and closed eyes. I am talking about the kind of prayer that comes as you go through your day. As you notice the sunshine, you tell God how nice it is. As you smell dinner cooking you thank God for your food. You talk to Him like a best friend.

Imagine for a moment if you will that you are spending the whole day with your best friend. You can do whatever the two of you want. Unhindered by time, money, or others. But there is one catch. You can only talk to your friend as often as you talked to Christ yesterday. He is supposed to be your best friend and He is with you all the time. Do you talk to Him?

When we pray God moves. He answers, and we see Him work in our lives. And that moving and working and answering, encourages us in our walk. It grows our roots. But if we never ask God for anything, if we never acknowledge that our blessings come from Him, we won’t be encouraged by these either. We won’t smile at the spring breeze and think about God’s wonerful creation. We will get good results on medical tests and we will think how lucky we are instead of what a blessing God has given to us.

If God is light and we are in conversation with Him and He is with us, then darkness can not stand to be around us. Satan and his demons are known as “darkness”. If you want to overcome a sin in your life, pray! If you are struggling with overwhelm and frustration, pray. I am finding that the more time I spend communing with my Heavenly Father the more focused I am able to stay. And as women we are asked day after day to serve our families and often must lay aside what we want to be able to accomplish all that is needed. If we don’t maintain a Godly focus we become self-focused and resentful. Prayer fixes that.

Let us pray. As often as we breathe. Pray. Each and every day. Pray. And as I am praying for you, I ask that you, my dear readers will pray for me. Prayer changes things and grows deeper roots.

Let’s get grounded!
