Simply Modest Swimwear Review

Do you like to swim? I sure do. But after 5 children in a little more than 8 years I don’t like wearing those bathing suits that cling to my shape, cover less than my night-gown, and leave me feeling totally uncomfortable.

I haven’t swam much in the past few years because of my level of uncomfortableness in modern bathing suits. And this summer I wanted to change that. Plus, my girls are getting older and I have really grown uncomfortable with them running around in “normal” bathing suits. And as they continue to grow more and more each day I didn’t like them wearing something so revealing.

So this summer I went on a hunt. A hunt for swimwear that we could be comfortable in both in the water and out.

And that search landed me on Simply Modest’s website. They sell swimsuits, custom made swimwear, and even swimwear fabric!! Crystal from Simply Modest was kind enough to let me review the pattern for both women’s modest swimwear and girls modest swimwear.

The sewing was fairly easy and once I figured out each step the suits took less than an hour to sew each. The pattern is great in that it is totally customizable. As you can see in the pictures I left the skirt part off of my girls’ suits. They are learning to swim and practicing different strokes and we were concerned that the skirt might be too cumbersome. So, I just lengthened the shirt part and it turned out great!!! I would highly reccommend these patterns for even beginner sewers.

The patterns include pictures to foloow for each step and Crystal was great about answering emails when I did run into a part that I couldn’t figure out. I haven’t done a ton of sewing and I’ve done even less with patterns so I was VERY nervous about this project but I am so glad that I did it.

I made my suit just as the pattern directed and I really like the coverage that it offers. I can get out of the pool and sit with the kids and not feel as if I need to change immediately.

I love these modest swimsuits for both all of us. We have had so many compliments on them already. I also love that with the way that this suit fits I plan to wear it as a maternity suit as well. I think there will be plenty of stretch and room for baby if I need that again. But, Simply Modest does sell some really cute modest maternity swimsuits as well.
