Homemade Salsa

So my family loves salsa. I mean we eat it by the jarfull and we eat it often! And man, good salsa is not only hard to find but it can be pricey too. And then add on top of that all those “ingredients” in them that you can’t even say much less tell what it is you are eating and I was tired of buying salsa.

I have tried and tried and tried for years to make homemade salsa that my family loved and would eat. But I’ve never had any luck. Until now. And here, my friends, is the best salsa recipe I have ever made. If you like salsa like that found in most restaurants look no further, here is your recipe…..

Restaurant Style Salsa

1 can diced tomatoes, drained
1 can tomatoes and green chilies, undrained
1/4 of a large onion
1 clove garlic
1 tsp chili powder
1/4 tsp cumin
1/2 tsp salt
cilantro to taste

Place all the ingredients into a blender or food processer and blend just until the onions and garlic are chopped. Place in a container and store in the refrigerator.

Enjoy dear friends!!

  1. Sounds good but we like chunky salsa.I guess I could food process everything but the tomatoes and stir them in last. How long does it keep?

  2. Another question, how much cilantro do you put in yours, I never used it before?
    Thanks,
    Rachel

  3. I think this would work wonderfully to just stir the tomatoes (or just the diced tomatoes so you don’t have the pepper chuncks)in last. I have some in my fridge that is two weeks old is still great! with acidy tomatoes I think 2-3 weeks min. And mine doesnt usually last that long!

  4. I also use fresh cilantro and start with an 1/8 -1/4 of a cup I think you would be happy somewhere in there.
