Hot Pockets

I made homemade hot pockets the other day for dinner. And they were a hit!! None of them made it to the freezer but I know that they would freeze well too!

I started with my favorite bread recipe in my bread machine. And when it was done I rolled it out pretty thin. Then I cut the dough with my biscuit cutter. You really could make these whatever size and shape you wanted. In fact for Valentine’s day I used a heart cookie cutter and colored my dough pink. They didn’t hold their heart shape great but the kids loved them. After I had cut two cirlces I placed my “filling”. This time I used hamburger seasoned with salt, pepper, garlic, and Worcestershire sauce.

In some of them I placed onion and cheese, and in others just meat. I baked them until the bread was just golden and they were perfect!

My kids dipped them in ketchup or mustard or ate them plain. The possibilities are truly endless with these. For our Valentine’s party I made some with a piece of American cheese for a “grilled cheese” hot pocket. I also made ham and cheese ones and pizza ones with pepperoni and pizza cheese. I want to try a chicken, broccoli and cheddar one next time.

What other filling ideas do you have?
