Blogging through the Alphabet – “Y”earn

This week’s blogging through the alphabet “y” post took some time and much thought. We don’t use “y” words that often and there aren’t that many of them. But when the word “yearn” was impressed upon my heart I knew that it was the one for today. This word truly speaks to where my heart has been lately. Take a minute to let the definition really sink it for you –

to feel a strong desire or wish for something or to do something

Let’s break it down……

To feel a strong desire or wish for something.

There are truly very few things that I can say that I have yearned for. Healing for my two sons when they were born sick. Closer relationship with my church family. And most strongly a closer walk with  my Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. Oh how strong my desire is for Him. To love Him more. To lean on Him and Him only. It is a desire that has never been quenched. The more I learn about Him the more I yearn to know Him more. And more, and more, and more.

And the second part.

To feel a strong desire or wish to do something.

I have never wanted anything more in this life than to be pleasing to my Lord. My biggest desire and yearning in my life is to live a life that will show other’s His amazing grace and love. Do I live like it each and every day? No way! I could only wish. Life is hard and this world is dirty and ugly. My vision gets skewed and I loose my focus. I yearn to see my Heavenly Father smile. And smile He does. For He sees my heart, and knows my struggles, and yet He loves me. Yearning heart and all.

This may not be a word that we use really often any more but it is a powerful word. And it truly expresses where my heart is right now. Are you yearning to please your Heavenly Father? He created you for the life He has put you in and no one can accomplish the work He has for you like you can.

I have loved this blogging through alphabet. Please join me next week for the last edition.
