“A” is for Ambassador

Today I start a journey I can only hope to finish! I really want to do this and I am going to try my hardest to make it happen. What is that journey you ask? It is Blogging Through the Alphabet”! I am linking up my posts over at Ben and Me with my new blogging friend Marcy that I have made through the TOS Crew this year.

Blogging Through the Alphabet

So today begins with the letter “A” obviously. The inspiration for this post came to me as I have listened to my children play this week. As you may have seen in my review lately, we have been doing an amazing unit study on George Washington from YWAM publishing. In one part of the book the story was told how a young George Washington was sent to help fight the French in the Ohio River Valley and through a hasty decision to disobey orders he ended up killing a French Ambassador and having nothing short of a mess on his hands.

Learning through play

My oldest son Josiah is completely captivated by this story and by George Washington in general. But the other day I over heard him playing with his soldiers and the dialogue included words such as George Washington, red coats, French, colonists, ambassador, and battle.

I love to hear my children acting out what we are learning through their play. To me, this shows that it has reached their hearts and minds in such a way that they will never forget it. And that is what homeschooling and delight directed learning is all about.
