Preparing for Change – A Self Reflection

preparing for change

As I have written these posts this week it has made me stop and think a lot. I have found myself preparing for change yet again and yet again being stressed out often times by the idea of what is coming. And I have decided that we are, many times, our own worst enemies. We allow our minds to wonder and stew about things that we can’t control anyway. But it I way easier said than done to be able to control our mind. I have been doing lots of reading of the Psalms to help me dwell on God’s goodness and faithfulness and love. I have been writing out verses and have them around my home as well. Praise music can often be heard throughout my house and I often hum to myself to bring peace to my heart.

Change is just hard and no matter how many times change comes to my home I learn new things about myself and my heart. I learn to lean even harder on my Heavenly Father and allow His arms to support me and to walk me through the times of the unknown. I have learned many times over that no matter how much we strive and stress to “prepare” we don’t know the future and so we can never be fully prepared for everything.

And when we can see ourselves as imperfect and unprepared beings we can truly fall into the arms of Christ and allow Him to be our rock and security through times of uncertainty. Whether you are moving away from family, adding a baby, loosing a job, or starting a new chapter with your children our only true peace of mind can be found in being in Christ’s will for us. No matter how much energy we put into preparing for change by cleaning, organizing, cooking, and establishing a routine these efforts are frivolous if we are not allowing Christ to direct our steps, order our days, and to determine our priorities. I pray that you have been blessed through this series as much as I have in writing it. I will never get tired of seeing God move in my life and my heart drawing me always closer to Him. Have a blessed weekend and don’t forget to come back on Monday for our 5 Weekly Goals link up that will once again be running!
