Homemade Deli Barbeque Chicken

Homemade Barbeque Chicken

My children love those wonderful things called “boneless” wings from the deli. Their favorite are barbqued ones. They can eat their weight in those things. Really they are chuncks of breast meat, breaded and fried in a deep fryer, then tossed in a barbeque sauce. They might taste good but good for you they are not.

So a couple of days ago when I was trying to find something for lunch I choose to make some chicken nuggets like THIS. And then I added a little water to our favorite sauce and tossed the chicken in it.

And my children declared it to be better than the store! So, I consider that a huge success. It is lightly breaded instead of super thick, it is baked and not fried, and I know what is in the sauce on it!

Plus, beyond all of that it is much, much cheaper!! So this is a keeper of a “recipe” in my book!

Edited to add – There wasn’t enough left this time to freeze but I know that these would freeze great. I will be freezing more of them soon but I will freeze just the chicken (like the post linked above) and will toss with the sauce after reheating.
