Our Homeschool Day in Pictures

It is different in every house across the nation and around the world. Just like each family is different, each homeschool runs differently too. But if you have ever wondered what a homeschool day looks like in my house, here is your chance. Now, each day is different and no matter how hard I have tried we can’t stick to a moment by moment schedule, but my children are learning, growing, and happy. And to me that is the most important.

Our homeschool day is no longer filled with pages and pages of book work, nor is it over flowing with lots of running and out of the house commitments. It is more filled with Bible verses, reading on the couch, and learning through play. I am honestly at a place right now that I love. I am so thankful that God has brought me through the hills and valleys in the past few years and I have emerged a much more content person. I am content to be home and with my children, enjoying days like this.

Josiah working on handwriting

We write lots of Bible verses for handwriting. It helps them to be familiar with lots of verses and is great copy practice for punctuation.

With our more delight directed learning research is a large part of our day. I teach many lessons through these times.

This boy loves to build with anything he can find.

I really don’t know what life would be like to homeschool without a toddler in the house anymore. And I tend to dread the day when I am reminded of it. I love having littles all around me and I don’t look forward to an empty house. I love watching toddlers learn about their world. They will spend hours exploring and “playing” with almost anything if they have the freedom to do so. And the more children I have the more that I see things through different eyes. Messes don’t bother me, things are just “things”, and children will wash. These days are much too short to worry about such “earthly” things.

She is learning to write her letters and spell names.

This child amazes me! She has picked up so much already from just listening to the other children’s lessons. I haven’t done much “formal” lessons with her at all and she is almost done with first semester Kindergarten.

I love using these “flashcards” for my toddlers.

These little phonics flashcards cost like $1 at the local dollar store and I love that they keep Jeremiah busy for a long time. It helps with his fine motor skills, speech development and beginning letter recognition.

So, there you have it. You now know what a typical (if there is such a thing) homeschool day in our home looks like. Are you able to have a “typical” day in your home or is life always throwing curve balls into your plans? I have learned to just roll with them and to embrace the craziness. Have you?
